Frequently asked questions
How do I play?
Bolt Duel is a real-time Speed/Spit card duel. Each player has a face-down stockpile and a five-card hand. Two centre piles sit between you. Tap any hand card onto a centre pile if its rank is one step up or down from the pile's top card — Ace wraps around, so 2 and King are neighbours.
Both players play at the same time — there are no turns. First to empty their hand and stockpile wins. If neither player has a legal move, tap the SPEED button to flip a fresh card onto each pile and break the deadlock.
How do I sign in?
You can play VS BOT without any account — just tap it and go. To play online, access the ELO leaderboard, or save your stats across devices, tap Find Match and sign in with Google, Apple, Email, or continue as a guest.
Guest accounts can play online but do not appear on the leaderboard. After a few guest games you will be offered the option to claim a permanent account and carry your stats forward.
How does matchmaking work?
Tap Find Match from the home screen, then Quick Match from the lobby. You are added to the matchmaking queue. As soon as another player is waiting, the game pairs you and the duel starts automatically — typically within seconds.
If no opponent is found within 18 seconds you can leave the queue and play against the bot instead.
I got disconnected during a match. What happens?
Bolt Duel plays moves optimistically — your card flies immediately on tap, and the result is reconciled with the server in the background. If you lose connection, the app shows a reconnecting badge and queues your moves for up to 8 seconds before freezing input.
If you disconnect entirely, your opponent sees an "Opponent disconnected" overlay and the match is closed. The result is recorded as an abandon on your record. Online matches do not resume — start a new one from the lobby.
How is the leaderboard calculated?
The leaderboard uses ELO ratings (K=24, starting rating 1200) updated after every online match. Both a monthly leaderboard and an all-time leaderboard are available — switch between them with the tab at the top of the Leaderboard screen.
Guest accounts are excluded from the leaderboard. Bot games do not affect your rating.
How do I delete my account?
From the app: tap the settings gear, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete Account. You will be asked to type DELETE to confirm. This immediately removes your profile, statistics, and match history from our servers — the action is permanent and cannot be undone.
Alternatively, email support@iocodo.com with the subject "Bolt Duel Account Deletion" and we will process it within 30 days.
How do I report a bug or crash?
Email support@iocodo.com with:
- Device model and OS version
- App version (visible in Settings)
- What you were doing when it happened
- Whether it is reproducible
Bolt Duel uses Firebase Crashlytics, so crashes are usually auto-reported, but a description from you helps a lot.
How do refunds work?
Bolt Duel is a free download with no in-app purchases in this version. If a future version introduces paid features, refunds are handled by the store you purchased through:
