Where to sit
If you can choose a seat, the lake side of the train (facing the water as you head east) gets the better view for most of the journey, especially through the vineyard stretch past Lausanne.
Breaking the journey
Lausanne sits about halfway along this route, and it’s an easy place to get off for a few hours before continuing on to Montreux, rather than treating the whole thing as a single non-stop ride.
