Worth the window seat
Even at 25 minutes, this is one of the more scenic short rides in Switzerland, the lake side of the train gets vineyard terraces sloping down to the water for most of the journey.
Stopping along the way
Several small stations sit between Lausanne and Montreux, right in the middle of the Lavaux vineyards, and hopping off for an hour before catching the next train is an easy way to turn a short ride into a longer, more leisurely stop among the terraces.
