Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 5, 2026
In brief: Starglax is a single-player arcade game. We never ask for your name, email address or anything else that identifies you, and there is no sign-up screen anywhere in it. On Android the Game signs in to Google anonymously in the background so that leaderboards and cloud save work; that produces a random identifier and no personal detail. On iOS it uses Apple Game Center and iCloud instead. Sections 2 and 4 list exactly what is sent.
1. General Information
Starglax ("the Game") is a mobile arcade shoot-'em-up developed and published by IOCODO LLC ("we", "our", "us").
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you play the Game. It was substantially revised on August 3, 2026, when version 1.0.6 added a remote configuration service, and again on August 5, 2026, when the Android version replaced Google Play Games with our own leaderboards and cloud save. Earlier versions of the Game sent nothing at all, and earlier versions of this page said so.
2. What the Game Sends
We never ask you for personal data. There is no sign-up screen, no name field and no email field anywhere in the Game.
What it does send is limited to the following. None of it identifies you as a person:
- An installation identifier. A random value your device generates the first time the Game runs, used so the configuration service can answer it. It is not your advertising identifier, it is not linked to your Apple or Google account, and deleting the Game discards it.
- An anonymous account identifier, on Android only. To store leaderboard scores and cloud saves, the Android version signs in to Google anonymously in the background. Google creates a random, persistent identifier for that install. It carries no name, no email address and nothing you typed, and you are never asked to sign in. Section 4 explains what it is used for.
- Basic technical details that come with that request: the app version and build number, your operating system version, and the language the Game is running in.
- Anonymous usage events, in builds where usage statistics are switched on: which screens you open, when a run starts and finishes, and which settings you change. These are counted in aggregate, not attached to a person.
- Approximate location worked out from your IP address, at roughly country or region level. The Game never asks for location permission and cannot read your GPS position.
Equally, the current version of the Game does not:
- Read your contacts, photos, files, calendar or messages
- Use cookies
- Use an advertising identifier, or build a profile of you for advertising
Any future change to how the Game is monetized, including the addition of advertising, would be described in an update to this policy and, where required, confirmed with an in-game consent request before it applies to you.
3. Locally Stored Data
The Game stores progress and preferences on your device, in the operating system's local app storage. This includes:
- High score and per-stage best scores
- Stars earned, medals unlocked, and skill-tree progress
- Selected pilot and weapon loadout
- Difficulty, audio volumes, haptics, and other in-game settings
This local copy is removed when you delete the Game, subject to any device backup behaviour controlled by Apple or Google. Whether a copy also leaves the device depends on your platform, and section 4 sets out both cases.
4. Leaderboards and Cloud Save
The two platforms work differently, because the Android version stopped using Google Play Games in August 2026.
On iOS. Leaderboards and achievements go through Apple Game Center, and cloud save uses iCloud key-value storage in your own Apple account. Both are held by Apple, not by us, and Apple does not pass us your name, email address or account details. We never receive a copy of your progress on iOS.
On Android. Leaderboards and cloud save run on our own Firebase project, so we do hold a copy:
- Cloud save. Your progress file is stored under the anonymous identifier described in section 2, in a document only that install can read or write. It exists so that reinstalling the Game or changing device does not cost you your progress.
- Leaderboard entry. When you post a score, the entry stores the anonymous identifier, the score, the time it was set, and a callsign the Game generates for you automatically, such as
PILOT-CEE3. There is no screen anywhere in the Game where you type a name, and that is deliberate: the callsign is assigned, not chosen. - Who can see it. Leaderboard entries are public to other players, because that is what a leaderboard is. Cloud saves are not.
- How long it is kept. Both stay until they are deleted. We do not run an automatic purge of inactive players, because that would erase the cloud save of someone who comes back after a break. To have yours removed, write to support@iocodo.com, mentioning your callsign so we can find the entry.
Google LLC operates the anonymous sign-in and the database on our behalf, as our processor.
5. Network Requests
The Game is fully playable without a connection. When it does have one, it makes these requests and no others:
- Remote configuration (Google Firebase). On launch, and again when you return to the Game, it reads its own settings: feature switches, the minimum supported version, and support links. This request carries the installation identifier and the technical details in section 2.
- Usage statistics (Google Analytics). In builds where this is switched on, the anonymous events described in section 2.
- Leaderboards and cloud save. On iOS, to Apple Game Center and iCloud when you are signed in to them. On Android, to our own Firebase project as described in section 4.
There is no live online play and no other telemetry endpoint.
6. Who Processes This Data
Google LLC provides the remote configuration and usage statistics services and processes that data on our behalf. Usage statistics are retained for up to 14 months and then deleted automatically.
Apple and Google also operate the stores the Game is distributed through, and handle installation, updates and platform services under their own policies:
7. In-App Purchases
The current version of Starglax does not offer in-app purchases or subscriptions.
8. Monetization and Advertising
We do not sell your personal data. Any future change to how Starglax is monetized, including the addition of advertising, will be described in an update to this policy and, where required, confirmed with an in-app consent request before it applies to you.
9. Crash Reporting
The Game contains no crash-reporting library and sends us no crash or error reports. If a crash is reported at all, it is reported by Apple or Google to their own developer consoles, in the aggregated form those platforms provide.
10. Children's Privacy
The Game asks nobody, children included, for a name, an email address or any other personal detail, and there is no sign-up screen. The technical data in section 2 and the anonymous identifiers in sections 2 and 4 are not used to build a profile and are not used for advertising.
Note: the platform you installed the Game from (Apple App Store or Google Play) also processes its own data under its own policy. Please review those policies directly for platform-specific details.
11. Data Sharing, Sale, and Your Choices
We do not sell, trade or share personal data. The technical data in section 2, and the leaderboard and cloud-save data in section 4, go only to Google, acting as our service provider, and are not passed to anyone else. The one thing other players can see is a leaderboard entry, which carries an assigned callsign and a score.
There is no profile of you to look up, correct or export: no name, no email address, nothing you typed. On Android we can find and delete the cloud save and leaderboard entry tied to your anonymous identifier, and the quickest way to point us at it is to quote your callsign. Deleting the Game stops all of the requests described above and removes every local copy. To ask about data held in connection with the Game, or to request its deletion, email support@iocodo.com and we will respond within 30 days.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
