Terms of Use
Last updated: August 19, 2026
In brief: Italio's A1 level is free in full. An optional one-time purchase opens the complete learning path through B1. There is no subscription. All billing is handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play. By installing or using the App you agree to the terms below.
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Italio ("the App"), an app that prepares residents of Italy for the Italian-language exam required for citizenship and for the EU long-term residence permit, published by IOCODO LLC ("we", "our", "us"). By downloading, installing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the App.
If you obtained the App from the Apple App Store, the Apple Standard End User License Agreement (EULA) also applies to your use of the App. Where these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA conflict, the Apple Standard EULA governs for installations obtained through the App Store.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, solely for personal, non-commercial learning.
You may not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, except where local law expressly permits
- Modify, redistribute, sublicense, rent, lease, or sell the App or any part of it
- Remove or obscure copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices
- Use the App in a way that violates applicable law or these Terms
3. Free and Paid Content
The App uses a freemium model:
- Free: the A1 level in full, together with the exam guide, a sample task from every exam section and one complete timed simulation.
- Full path (one-time purchase): opens the A2 and B1 levels, completing the 1,500-word and 55-grammar-card path, full practice across all four exam sections, and the remaining full simulations.
Levels above B1 are not part of the App today. If we add them, we will say clearly in the App and on the store listing whether they are included in an existing purchase.
4. In-App Purchase
The full learning path is available as a single one-time, non-subscription purchase, sold and billed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. There is no recurring billing and nothing renews.
The price is shown in the App in your local currency before you confirm a purchase. Prices vary by storefront.
Restoring purchases: if you reinstall the App or change devices, use Restore purchases on the upgrade screen to restore your existing entitlement.
Refunds are handled by the platform you purchased from, under Apple's or Google's respective policies. We do not separately process payments and cannot issue platform refunds directly.
5. Accounts
The App does not require you to create an account or provide personal information to learn. To back up your learning progress, the App signs you in anonymously, and you can optionally link an Apple or Google account to carry that progress to another device. Your purchase entitlement is tied to your Apple App Store or Google Play account, not to any account we hold. See our Privacy Policy for details on data handling, and the account deletion page for how to remove your account.
6. Intellectual Property
The App, including its code, lessons, exercises, audio, art and design, is owned by IOCODO LLC and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. All rights not expressly granted to you in these Terms are reserved.
7. Third-Party Content and Attribution
Italio does not include third-party licensed dictionaries or question banks. Every word, grammar card, reading text, listening script, speaking prompt and exam simulation is original material, written by IOCODO LLC on the publicly available exam syllabus. See Section 8 for the syllabus and non-affiliation statement.
8. Learning Content and the Exam Syllabus
Italio is based on the syllabus published for the CILS or CELI modulo cittadinanza (level B1) and the civic-integration exam for the EU long-term residence permit (level A2). IOCODO LLC is an independent developer. Italio is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by Università per Stranieri di Siena, Università per Stranieri di Perugia, Università Roma Tre, Società Dante Alighieri, the Ministero dell'Interno or any exam commission, and no part of the App is an official exam product.
Our lessons and simulations are prepared with care, but language learning involves judgement and the App is a study aid, not a guarantee of any specific result, exam result included. If you spot a mistake, report it in the App and we will review it.
9. Updates
We may release updates that fix bugs, add content or levels, and change features. Updates are delivered through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Some updates may be required to keep the App working correctly.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, IOCODO LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special or exemplary damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the App, including loss of progress, data or recordings. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid, if any, for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim.
12. Termination
These Terms remain in effect while you use the App. You may terminate at any time by uninstalling the App. We may suspend or terminate your license if you breach these Terms. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of any purchase already made.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which IOCODO LLC is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Where local consumer-protection law gives you stronger rights, those rights prevail.
