Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Loquio ("the App"), an educational app that teaches American Sign Language, published by IOCODO LLC ("we", "our", "us"). By downloading, installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the App.

If you obtained the App from the Apple App Store, the Apple Standard End User License Agreement (EULA) also applies. Where these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA conflict, the Apple Standard EULA governs for installations obtained through the App Store.

2. Educational Use Only

Loquio is a learning tool. It is not a certification, is not accredited by any Deaf organization or language authority, and is not an interpreter. Nothing in the App should be relied on as a substitute for a qualified human interpreter in a medical, legal, or emergency setting.

3. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, solely for personal, non-commercial learning. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, redistribute, sublicense, rent, or sell the App, or remove any copyright or proprietary notice from it.

4. Content and Attribution

The sign forms Loquio teaches are the central form measured on recordings of 47 Deaf signers from the PopSign ASL corpus (v2.1, Georgia Tech Contextual Computing Group, licensed CC BY 4.0). Hand landmark tracking uses MediaPipe (Google, licensed Apache 2.0). Attribution to both projects appears in the App and on this website.

5. Accounts

Loquio requires no account, sign-in, or personal detail to learn. An anonymous identifier is used behind the scenes, as described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Intellectual Property

The App, including its code, lessons, illustrations and design, is owned by IOCODO LLC and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws, except for the third-party content credited in Section 4. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device or every sign a learner may wish to look up.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, IOCODO LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special or exemplary damages arising from your use of the App, including reliance on a sign, a score, or feedback the App gives you.

9. Changes to the App and These Terms

We may release updates that fix bugs, add signs, or change features, and we may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes to these Terms will update the "Effective date" above. Continued use of the App after a change is posted means you accept the update.

10. Termination

These Terms remain in effect while you use the App. You may stop at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your license if you breach these Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Where local consumer-protection law gives you stronger rights, those rights prevail.
